MERV Rating Scale

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). MERV values range from 1 to 20. The higher the MERV value, the more efficient the filter is at trapping dust, contaminants and other particulate matter.
